  1. re: the Slate piece. I’m curious about the statistics. Fifty percent of all gay couples in Texas are currently raising children, and they aren’t married. Are gay women raising children together lumped together into the pool of other unmarried women?

    I think the European model supports the choice of having children without marrying more than the U.S. system does. IE, there are more benefits for people with children who are married than those who aren’t — taxes, finances, etc.
